a lot has been made over the glenn beck 'leave the your church if it says social justice or economic justice' in the doctrine or whatever. i think he claimed they were hidden codewords for the liberal left. and with such an action he's getting quite a bit of pub.. not to mention my attention, which he's only gotten on daily show spoofs or when i'm at my parents house as my dad has foxnews on a constant cycle (till i find the remote). personally i want to think mr. beck has done this to ignite some media response cause he was low on ratings, why not stir the pot. i'm sure though he's just like many who have confused that social justice in our church setting is separate from the government.
i posted a comment on john meunier's blog as he's concerned over jeremy and his obsession with glenn beck.. i am too, worried, not obsessed.
my thoughts went like this.
i am totally with you that the speaking for social issues sounds like a political party discourse, or shout match.
also to say, when we talk about social issues & their subsequent interventions, don’t we automatically assume its the churches job, not the govt?.. (crickets).. oh, so i’m the only one there?
as i got it, Christ wasn’t terribly thrilled with the government of that day and didn’t seek to use them for his kingdom, so we we default opt on using them as a Christian nation is beyond me. churches should step up to their namesake they claim
so i welcome glenn's fanboys to tell me what he was really thinking.. i'm willing to tell you what Christ had in mind. i'm staying in my church, btw, with my social justice & economic justice agenda, you can keep your government partisan hackery (thanks jon stewart for that) to your news network.
