so i was sitting around talking to some of my youth yesterday after sunday school. i heard some talk from one conversation about "comments" & "blog." i was like, "hey, yall blog." they were like.. (at this point i get a weird look, no verbal response though). so i was like, "what are yall talking about?" from there i got "myspace." huh?
i then got a quick education on "myspace." i was told to check their stuff out, but i also received a warning of what i might find there. so, myspace.com looks almost like a dating service (call me silly but that is what i felt i was doing when i was trying to find my youths profiles). for most folks it is where people start a profile for a single person, but i see some profiles for bands. it's free, you set up a basic profile homepage, a spot for some photos, a blog, bulletin board, a section of your friends who are "myspacing," & other assorted features. note: there is also xanga.com, another teen blog community.
aside from some of the language, it's pretty cool. the kids seem to have a place where they can jot their thoughts down, write notes of encouragement to each other, or whatever else teens talk about (which you may or may not want to read).
