alan has tagged me with this meme on sharing 5 odd facts about me. hmm.. the trouble of coming up with just 5 odd things about me.
- first thing that usually comes to mind is that i was an awful breakdancer back during the 80's. but that didn't stop me (or my mom making me) from taking classes and entering into contests. i remember some being at my church's talent shows and even one at k-mart. needless to say, i never won one.
- i miss being a fireman. for two years of my "renaissance man" period (95-97 to be exact) i spent doing the night shifts for my township as a fireman and emt (i spent the days going to school or as a security guard). i don't miss the politics and having to tell people stuff they didn't want to hear, but i do miss the friendships made being in a high anxiety type profession.
- while i'm on it, i at one time held a "top secret" clearance by the government. my brother wanted a security guard job, so i went with him. i ended up applying too and got the job. imagine me with longer hair wearing an outfit that looked like roscoe from dukes of hazzard. nice!
- i share a killer hockey card collection with my brother that hosts a number of gretsky and lemieux rookie cards. i stunk at hockey (so played goalie) and was really good at collecting cards from the 60's to the late 80's (hockey cards didn't start till the 60's). the collection is probably worth a few ten thousand dollars (book value of course). i don't know if we can part from it though. we did however give a lemieux rookie as a christmas present, the friend was a pittsburgh native and just flipped, we were happy to give that gift.
- i love the highlander movies.. the first totally, but even the crappy ones i will still watch. the tv show was okay. i have no care to learn swordfighting or cut off anyone's head, but for some reason i like those movies.
