give some shouts and encouragement to my latest blogging youth. kamen, is an excentric through and through. a free spirit world class fiddle player that can do some remarkable things, brilliant and slightly stupid. check him out, or some of my other youth folk.

some local thoughts

did any of my local friends watch news channel 5 tonight and find it totally comical how many times they worked in that they are doing the news in high definition? what seemed funniest to me is that i watched it all on an old tv with rabbit ears (reasonable story length). one of the guys and i couldn't stop but laugh anytime something was in "hd" or "hi-def."

in totally unrelated news.. i've got to find this guy. he's my type of person. thanks john

finding my inner child in orlando

sometime tuesday erin and i will be heading to orlando. she'll be working at this builders show thing. me, i'll do some work away from the office and seek to find my inner child at the magic kingdom... or i might just sleep some.

i know i want to catch back up with john, if there are any other orlando peeps who'd like to show me some actually unique parts of orlando i'd be down with that.

beyond that, i'll probably find some oddities to blog about which could prove to be very interesting.

oh the children's toys

it snowed last night. i think the weather people are now batting .008 for the last three years. this one they downplayed as the night before they overplayed and nothing happened. after scraping the cars (being a product of the north i have an arsenal of scrapers) i noticed in the back yard the kids toys. i'm wondering how i can get the children to pick up their toys better?

note: i have already prayed for opposable thumbs, God doesn't seem to want to grant that in their lifetime.

the nfl does not care about your evangelism

so apparently the nfl is taking a church to task for having a "super bowl" party and putting in on a screen with a projector. the league got upset they were taking up a fee/offering and using the words/term "super bowl" which is copywrighted. soo...

Pastor John D. Newland said he told the NFL his church would not charge anyone and that it would drop the use of the forbidden words....

Newland said his church won't break the law.

"It just frustrates me that most of the places where crowds are going to gather to watch this game are going to be places that are filled with alcohol and other things that are inappropriate for children," Newland said. "We tried to provide an alternative to that and were shut down."

i hope the nfl does not get upset with us when we have our Room in the Inn Super Bowl Tailgate party on sunday where we show the game to a group of homeless fellows that we are housing for the night. if they came after us i'm sure that would make for some bad press for an otherwise spotless league (sense sarcasm now).

life can't get much worse

sometime yesterday our tv went out for good. the picture had gone away and come back these past couple of weeks, but now, it's gone... all we get is the sound. if i can imagine hell it would be something like this. &:~)

not really. but it is kinda annoying. erin & i have been looking for a new one, mainly cause ours is old (i bought it in '97) so it isn't compatible with any hi-def or digital recorder. we haven't found one that we liked though. guess we will just have to suck it up.

have i heard it all now

last night at our wednesday night supper at church i sat down at an open table to see who would sit with me (sneaky tactic to meet more folks). a young mom approached and started situating her children then went to get drinks. upon returning this was our conversation..

ym: so am i like the 50th person to tell you, you look like (at this moment i think "jack black") the american idol kid from alabama?
me: (somewhat startled) no, you are the first.
ym: he's got bigger hair than you, but he reminds me of you
me: most folks say that i remind them of jack black
ym: funny, he said the same thing
me: (thinking this could be legitimate) that's interesting, i'll have to check that out
ym: do you not watch american idol?
me: no, i stopped watching years ago

more people sit at table and we start talking about elementary school teachers.. fast forward to home..

me: erin, some lady told me tonight that i look like a kid on american idol
erin: hahahahahahaha!! oh no honey, if you put on 50 pounds and and grew your hair out
me: i don't need to put on 50 pounds
backstory, erin was at her mom's last night doing some baby shower prep stuff for a friend
erin: last night we had it on at mom's when he said people say he reminds them of jack black we just looked at each other and laughed..
me: i gotta check this out
erin: just don't blog about it tonight
me: ok

so, is this the next gavin celebrity look-a-like?
